Abstract
The fluorescence spectra and the fluorescence lifetime of uranyl ions have been investigated with a nitrogen laser as an excitation source. The application of the laser-induced fluorescence technique to the analysis of trace quantities of uranium in aqueous media is described. Three systems have been studied: (1) uranyl ions in sulfuric acid and sulfate media; (2) uranyl ions in phosphoric acid and phosphate aqueous media; (3) uranium in a CaF2 matrix.
