Spectral purity of distributed feedback dye lasers

Abstract

The output from pulsed dye lasers contains a small amount of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE). It has been shown1 that distributed feedback dye lasers (DFDLs) produce less ASE because DFDL radiation has a short buildup time.
