Abstract

Reflection and transmission mode optocouplers enjoy wide use in object motion sensing applications. However, conventional devices are too bulky and expensive to be used in many proximity sensing applications. We propose and demonstrate here a novel optoelectronic sensor consisting of a LED used simultaneously as emitter and detector.
