Development of a diagnostic for heavy impurities in neutral beams by laser-induced fluorescence

Abstract

An important objective of fusion research is to reduce the level of impurity ions in magnetically confined plasmas. We report here on progress in developing a diagnostic for detection of impurity atoms in neutral hydrogen beams by means of laser-induced fluorescence (LIF).
