Abstract
Distributed feedback dye lasers (DFDLs) have been shown capable of producing picosecond pulses.1 Compared with mode-locked picosecond lasers, which are expensive and produce a train of sharp pulses, DFDLs are inexpensive and can deliver ultrashort pulses at an easily controlled repetition rate.
