Abstract
From an extensive program of research on development of improved schemes for efficient excitation of pulsed TEA CO2 lasers we have developed a series of preionization structures for efficient stabilization of fast discharges under a wide range of operating conditions. In particular, two structures have been designed, one for devices operating at pulse repetition frequencies (prfs) up to 50 Hz, for which a very fast recirculation of the gas mixture is not required and another which permits a rapid transverse gas flow.
