Abstract
Digital data storage devices using a laser beam for addressing have been under intense development in recent years. Practical devices are finally reaching the stage for product introduction. We will present the considerations given in the design of a 1-Gbyte capacity write-once-read-only digital data storage drive. This drive is designed as an office environment unit with the following design goals
