Abstract
There is a growing need for fibers that can preserve the polarization state of the injected light or guide only one polarization. In addition to their direct application in fiber sensors, nonlinear optics, and interconnection of polarization selective components, these fibers are now used to make in-line fiber-optic components such as filters and directional couplers.
