Abstract

Inversion of optical scattering data means estimation of particle size distributions using scattering data. This problem has numerous practical applications in precipitation and pollution monitoring, meteorological and hydrological studies, and many other fields. Thus a considerable research effort has been devoted to the inversion problem.1-3 A major part of this effort dealt with angle scattering and yielded practical nephelometer designs1; the nephelometer is a device capable of inverting optical-scattering data.
