Abstract
A detailed study of transmission holograms recorded by one plane reference wave and N cylindrical waves (where N varies from 1 to a large number) is reported. The aim is to investigate both experimentally and theoretically the interactions caused by the presence of several superimposed gratings in a volume hologram. The material used is AGFA 8E56 HD recorded at 514.5 nm using an Ar-ion laser, and processing is the same as that reported recently by Slinger et al.1 At recording the cylindrical sources are sufficiently far from the recording plate so that they can be regarded as locally plane waves at every point through the emulsion.
