Abstract
Phase-coupled multiple-stripe semiconductor laser arrays are promising sources for efficient generation of large amounts of optical power.1 Array structures reported1-3 so far, however, in general, exhibit a multilobe far-field and/or multilongitudinal mode spectra emission. To improve the spatial and spectral characteristics of the array output, injection locking of an array by a single-mode master laser has been recently demonstrated.4 Single-mode output with a single 0.5° wide far-field lobe was observed with the array emitting 105 mW in cw operation.
