Abstract
The uranium atomic vapor laser isotope separation (U-AVLIS) process under joint development by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Martin Marietta Engineering Systems, Inc. is currently performing commercial scale tests of its enrichment technologies. The U-AVLIS process morphology, i.e., the relationship between the underlying physics and the process technologies that bear on engineering costs, will be discussed. Application of AVLIS to the separation of other elements will also be presented.
