Abstract
Combination of beams from a number of laser modules into a single uniphase output beam requires the elimination of path length differences (or piston errors) among the beams. Experimental and theoretical results on elimination of piston errors using stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) to conjugate the piston errors among beams are reported here. Use of rear injection of an SBS seed beam to lower the SBS threshold is also described.
