Abstract

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of the spectral degree of correlation between the turbulence-induced intensity fluctuations of two beams emanating from two independent monochromatic sources, one emitting at λ1 = 1.064 μm and the other at λ2 = 0.6328 μm. Measurements were made in the regime of strong fluctuations over atmospheric ranges of 1300-3250 m, and the effect of apertura averaging on both Cov(λ1.060.63) and various conditional two-wavelength probability density functions was monitored. The reported measurements extend those of Gurvich et al.1 to (a) stronger scattering conditions, (b) different aperture sizes, and (c) a larger wavelength separation.
