Abstract

The CO2 laser pyrolysis technique has been used to synthesize a number of compounds including SiC, Si3N4, Si,1FeSi2, B4C, and Fe/SI/C.2 We have extended this technique to the preparation of boron and titanium diboride powders. The boron carbide synthesis has also been examined in some detail.
