Abstract
Because of its high gain, large undepleted power, and short response time, stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is one of the most useful methods for light amplification and frequency conversion.1,2 Optical solitons can also be amplified by SRS without losing their inherent characteristics.3 An interesting idea, the so-called synchronously pumped (or dispersion-tuned) fiber Raman laser (SPFRL), has been proposed by Stolen et al.4 The technique has many interesting aspects as a synch pump laser. However, no theoretical approach for it has yet been done.
