Abstract
Range images formed by scanning a pulsed laser range finder of an air-to-ground missile were simulated by a computer program. These range images have the advantage that they preserve the 3-D geometry of objects in a scene and do not depend on object reflectivity or background illumination. A model of a Russian T72 tank was formed and used for subsequent investigation of image correlation.
