Abstract
This paper gives an overview of the plasma formed on a 304 stainless steel surface by using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser and the overall machining efficiency. Atmospheric air, oxygen, and nitrogen gases were pumped at different flow rates through a gas nozzle designed for this purpose. The nozzle was connected to the laser system, and the pumping was done at three angles: 0, 30, 90°.
