Abstract

Injection locking of coupled-stripe laser arrays has been recently demonstrated to improve their spectral and far-field emission characteristics1-3. We report here the first results on locking of 20-element and 40-element arrays. Single mode and single lobe emission was observed at significantly higher power than achieved previously. A simple saturated gain amplifier model of the array is used to explain some of the locking characteristics.
