Abstract

Electron-beam-pumped (EBP) semiconductor lasers have been studied for nearly two decades,1–3 and among their potential applications are those in communications and information processing that require stable single-mode operation in a narrow well-defined beam. These requirements cannot be met in the simple-longitudinal-pumped laser geometry.
