Abstract

Hydrogen fluoride (HF) chemical lasers can lase with high electrical efficiency because they are pumped by the exothermic energy of the chemical reactions.1 By using an H2/F2 mixture Initiated by an intense electron-beam, high electrical efficiency in excess of 100% is obtainable with a specific output energy >200 J/liter,2·3 and thus the HF laser is attractive for high-energy pulsed laser applications.
