Abstract
Current theories of mode locking have proved useful in analyzing the steady-state behavior of mode-locked lasers. The Kuizenga-Siegman-Haus theory, for example, examines the round-trip change in the pulse and then finds the steady-state solution by demanding that the pulse shape and phase remain constant after each round trip.
