Interaction characteristics of two coupled tracking/pointlng subsystems in optical intersatellite communications

Abstract

In the optical intersatellite communications, the performance of the tracking/pointing subsystem is an essential factor in determining the communication quality. The characteristics of the tracking/ pointing subsystem have been analyzed so far, assuming that the intensity of the received beacon is constant. Since the radiated beam from the opposite satellite actually fluctuates in direction, the intensity of the received beacon is not constant, so that the interactive characteristics of the two coupled tracking/pointing subsystems have to be considered (Fig, 1).
