Abstract

Coherent operation of 1- and 2-D arrays of Al-GaAs grating surface emitting (GSE) distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) lasers with peak output powers of >1 W have been the subject of several recent papers.1,2 We report on the development of InGaAsP GSE arrays and 2-D AIGaAs arrays with output apertures in excess of 1 cm. We also present results of a theoretical model that describes the coherent operation of 2-D GSE arrays.
