Effect of ground state dynamics on the spectra of discharge-pumped XeCl lasers

Abstract

Injection-locked discharge-pumped XeCl lasers are now attractive sources of high power narrowband UV radiation, in the case of excimer lasers which operate on bound-free transitions, such as KrF and ArF, injection locking characteristics may be generally determined by the small signal gain of the active medium and the injection intensity. However, the experimental results of Bourne and Alcock1 for injection locking of a discharge-pumped XeCl BX laser showed a strong wavelength dependence for locking.
