Abstract

Coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy is now a powerful method for studying combustion processes. At pressures higher than 1 atm, collisional narrowing1 is essential for correct interpretation of the measured spectra. In collaboration with the University of Karlsruhe2 we have developed a heatable high pressure cell to measure CARS spectra of nitrogen and oxygen in the 1-2500-atm range and 300-1000 K to determine spectral shift and broadening as a function of both temperature and pressure.
