Abstract

Conoscopic holography is a new technique used to record incoherent holograms by means of a birefringent crystal. We discuss the possibility of obtaining off-axis conoscopic holograms. We show that the effective separation of the twin images and the dc component in the Fourier space can be performed without loss of information by tilting the optical axis of the crystal and using a space invariant limiting aperture device. Different operational solutions are presented. We describe the recording system using a CCD camera, pointing out the differences from the on-axis setup. We detail sampling requirements to perform the spectral separation without having aliasing effects and their consequences on the resolution in the longitudinal direction.
