Abstract

For material processing with UV laser light, optical devices such as windows, lenses, and fibers with good transmission properties are required. In the search for suitable materials, OH-rich synthetic fused silica samples were irradiated by 248-nm excimer laser pulses with 20-ns pulse width and 0.5-J/cm2 pulse energy density.
