Abstract

Recently it has been demonstrated that a tandem-contact quantum well laser exhibits enhanced modulation efficiency relative to the uniformly pumped laser on account of the optical gain lever mechanism.1-2 We show that the increase in the modulation efficiency is accomplished by only a marginal increase in the intensity noise.
