Abstract

Phase-locked arrays of antiguides have shown significant promise as high power coherent sources.1 The devices have been analyzed using the effective index method1 (EIM) for finite arrays or a 2-D finite element method2 for finite arrays. However, the EIM is invalid when more than one transverse mode is supported in the inter-element regions.3 The 2-D finite element approach gives a good qualitative picture but cannot be readily used for device design.
