Abstract

Hybrid integrated optic rf spectrum analyzers (IOSAs) were previously realized in LiNbO3 (Ref. 1) and Si (Ref. 2) based substrates. Meanwhile, it is of continuing interest to realize the IOSA in a GaAs based substrate in which the acoustooptic (AO) Bragg cell, lenses, laser sources, photodetector arrays, as well as associated electronics circuits are monolithically integrated. Toward this objective we have recently realized gigahertz AO Bragg cells3 and lenses4 in GaAs waveguides.
