Abstract
The operation behavior of a CO2 laser was studied by monitoring the rovibrational state population density of the pumping gas N2 by coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS).1 Detailed information was gained about the interaction between the intracavity laser flux and vibrationally excited state manifold of CO2 and N2.
