Abstract

A 5-kHz copper vapor laser (CVL) switched by semiconductors has been demonstrated. Thyratrons have been used as a conventional switching device for CVLs. However, these lifetimes were not enough for reliable long life operation. The solid state switching CVL has been expected to have a remarkable long life compared with a hydrogen thyratron.
