Subcarrier and clock recovery by an optically injected coherent phase-locked synchronous oscillator: coherent subcarrier demodulation

Abstract

Subcarrier multiplexing of optical carriers offers several advantages for multiple channel transmission of broadband signals.1 Modulation of subcarrier signals, however, has been limited to frequency modulation. Unfortunately, current demodulation by delay line discriminators limits tunability, fixes the receiver bandwidth, requires image rejection techniques, and, therefore, reduces the ultimate flexibility for multiple access lightwave networks.
