Third-order optical nonlinearity via reverse saturable absorption in porphyrin and its derivative

Abstract

Large third-order nonlinearities in the saturable absorption medium have recently received much attention. It has been known for many years that the optical saturable absorption in some organic molecules, such as the rhodamine 6G dyes, decreases with increasing light intensity. In contrast, reverse saturable absorption in which the optical absorption increases with increasing light intensity has only received minimal study.
