Abstract

Ultrafast optical processes, ac Stark effect,1,2 and virtual charge-induced optical nonlinearity (VCON),3,4 based on virtual excitation in quantum well (QW) structures have been attracting a great deal of attention from fundamental and practical points of view. The experimental results on the ultrafast response of the virtual excitation through the observation of photocurrents in GaAs/AlGaAs QW structures are demonstrated with the optical pulse mixing technique.
