Multiple quantum well optical power amplifier for high-speed lightwave systems

Abstract

Optical power amplifiers placed at the transmitter may become important system components. While it is important that the saturation powers for such amplifiers be as large as possible, it is also likely that the amplifiers will operate, to some degree, under conditions of compressed gain.
