Nonlinear directional coupler beam-propagation computations with two transverse dimensions and plasma theory

Abstract

All-optical self-switching with 1:3 to 3:1 contrasts was demonstrated in the GaAs/AlGaAs nonlinear directional coupler (NLDC) of Fig. 1 using 10 ps pulses.1 The refractive indices used in the computations are cladding, 3.523869; guide, 3.53231; buffer, 3.412201; substrate, 3.64.
