Abstract
We show that optical bistability in photorefractive Ce: SBN can be observed in a two-wave mixing configuration when one of the transmitted waves is reflected back into the interaction region as an erase beam. Bistable behavior has been observed when the system operates as an all-optical system and when the system operates as a hybrid electro-optic system. Our results agree with the theoretical predictions of Zozulya et al.1 of optical bistability in photorefractive crystals.
