Abstract

The readout of ~106 electronic particle detectors with a high degree of parallelism in signal transfer and processing is recognized as a major challenge. In this study we use an integrated electro-optic modulator and fibers for such a readout system. The optical system is composed of a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser, a Mach–Zehnder (MZ) interferometric modulator with x-cut, y- propagating Ti:LiNbO3 waveguides, low-noise InGaAs photodiodes, and fast-shaping amplifiers.
