Abstract
We report an upconversion laser, in the form of a fluoride fibre doped with praseodymium, which oscillates at five wavelengths, in the blue, green and red spectral regions. The threshold powers and pump wavelengths, at 1.01 μm and 0.83 μm suggest that diode-pumped operation should be easily achievable. This offers the prospect of a simple, efficient and reliable source.
