Abstract
High average-power solid-state lasers operating at high efficiency are very useful for application to material processing. Although a high efficiency of approximately 5% was obtained1 with a gadolinium scandium, gallium garnet crystal that was codoped with Nd and Cr (Nd, Cr: GSGG), growth of this crystal in a large quantity is difficult due to limited supply of scandium.
