Thermal properties of second-harmonic generation in quasi-phase-matched waveguides

Abstract

The possibility of direct-frequency doubling of diode-laser output through waveguides has been investigated intensively. There are several methods for achieving the phase-matching condition; quasi-phase-matching (QPM) in the waveguide seems attractive, because it provides guided-mode, second-harmonics that could easily be collimated, and it enables the use of d33, the largest component of the second-order, nonlinear, optical coefficient in lithium niobate.1,2
