Abstract

High peak power and. average power solid.-state laser is a useful tool for material-processing and x-ray-generation applications. Our previous report1 presented performance characteristics of the zig-zag optical path Nd3+ :GGG slab-laser system. The GGG crystals have many striations in the orthogonal to the growing axis. These striations cause the optical aberrations, especially for the zig-zag optical path slab laser. The optical aberrations produced by such a laser amplifier medium can be corrected by using a phase- conjugate mirror (PCM) with stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS).1,2
