Improved performance of compressively as well as tensile strained quantum-well lasers

Abstract

The results of theoretical calculations of the effects of strain on the laser characteristics of quantum-well lasers are reported. In agreement with experimental results, we show that tensile strained lasers can outperform compressively strained lasers.
