Abstract

Optical low coherence reflectometry is an interferometry technique that has been developed to perform nondestructive diagnostics on waveguide elements.1 It has recently been used to measure distances between intraocular structures,2 as well as in arteries.3 Basically, it consists of a Michelson interferometer illuminated with a broadband light source, e.g., an LED. Light reflected from the sample placed at the end of the measuring arm is coupled to the light from the reference arm, and the interference signal is detected.
