Abstract

Generation of coherent radiation in the blue-green spectral region by direct frequency doubling of laser diode emission offers the important advantages of high electrical to optical conversion efficiency, compact implementation, wavelength tunability, and fast modulation. Previously, to obtain high nonlinear conversion efficiencies with low laser diode fundamental power, monolithic cavities for enhancement of the fundamental field1,2 have been used, requiring precise wavelength control, where a maximum of 41-mW SHG power was generated.1
