Abstract

We report on the observation of the photo refractive effect in vanadium-doped ZnTe over the broad wavelength range of 0.6—1.3 μm. ZnTe is predicted to have one of the highest photorefractive sensitivities of any material. These features make ZnTe an attractive candidate for real-time holographic and phase-conjugation applications in the technologically important 0.8-0.9-μm laser diode wavelength range.
