Abstract

The 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (MHBA) crystal belongs to the monoclinic system, and its space group is P2p. Its powder efficiency is thirty times that of urea.1 The transparent region range is 375-1700 and the cut-off wavelength is 370 nm. It has potential use as SHG material for GaAs series diode lasers. This paper reports, we believe for the first time, the growth and the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of the MHBA crystal, which was grown from an organic solvent by the temperature lowering method.
