Abstract
A prospective candidate for chemical laser action in the visible region is the IF molecule, mainly because of its extremely high stimulated emission cross-section, which equals 10-15 cm2. In accordance with theory chemically induced lasing on the IF B→X transition (λ = 635 nm) may be effectively realized, if chemical reactions do proceed in the supersonic expanding high-enthalpy flow of the laser mixture.1,2
